This piece is the artistic representation of what the artist thinks about during Pride month. Queer intimacy is still seen as taboo and remains persecuted in some parts of the world. In Abella’s work, he chooses to highlight what happens when the night out is over or when one chooses to just stay in with someone one loves. Hopefully one day, everyone will be able to hold hands with who they love without hesitation, regardless of where they live.

Derek Abella is a Brooklyn-based Cuban-American illustrator. His work has been featured in editorial and advertising settings, and aside from being his first mural, this is his first assignment where he got to express the love he has for love itself.
