This piece at Raleigh Iron Works celebrates the site’s history of iron and steel manufacturing, specifically the blue collar employees of Peden Steel. These hard working men and women helped build barges for the US War Department during World War II and also manufactured steel I-beams for many of Raleigh’s iconic buildings.
